Vision Statement

Nursing informaticists (NI) create innovative technological solutions that enable clinicians to provide safe, high quality care for patients, families and the community.

Purpose

This one-year program will provide UCLA Health nurses with an opportunity to discover the world of nursing informatics through classes, practical experience and mentoring by a Nursing Informaticist. After the first year, there may be an opportunity for Nursing Informatics Fellows to work alongside Nurse Informaticists for up to one additional year.

Goals

  • Provide nurses with an opportunity to experience and learn about nursing informatics through mentoring from NIs and practical experience completing a project using the system development lifecycle.
  • Improve safety, quality, and efficiency by developing and implementing optimization projects that leverage CareConnect or other technologies.
  • Provide NIs with the opportunity to share expertise in nursing informatics through mentoring.
