Areas of Focus: End User Adoption & Engagement, Learning Management System

Sam joined the ISS Informatics Training team in October 2017. With over 10 years of health IT, program development, and change management experience, as the Sr. Manager for Adoption and Engagement, she provides oversight for the IT Super User programs, IT Rounding programs, IT Modified Duty program, and application of technologies used by the department to facilitate learning. Sam is passionate about connecting people with technology. She loves alleviating the burden of technology on front-line workers so they can spend more of their time focusing on delivering world class patient care.

In pursuit of her passion, Sam began her career at UCLA Health in 2010 as a project manager in hospital operations to implement EHRs in Hematology Oncology and Radiation Oncology. She then joined IT as an Epic Beacon and Ambulatory analyst for the enterprise rollout of CareConnect. In 2013, she transferred to Faculty Practice Group and led the development of myUCLAhealth, eConsults, and text message patient appointment reminders, along with several early-adopter telehealth pilots. Prior to UCLA Health, Sam wrote early literacy and clinical decision-support system grant proposals for Northeast Valley Health Corporation, a FQHC providing comprehensive primary care to the underserved residents of LA County.

Sam received her master's in Health Services Administration from University of Michigan School of Public Health (Go Blue!) and has an undergraduate degree in biology and management from Cal State LA. Sam is Epic certified in Ambulatory, Beacon, MyChart, Radar, and Reporting Workbench. She also has PMP and ITIL4 Service Management certifications.
