Javier Nicolalde

Javier Nicolalde, PhD, joined DGIT in 2023 as the Director of Research Technology. In this role, Dr. Nicolalde leads and executes the strategic vision for research technology services and applications, supporting and enabling basic, translational, and clinical research across the UCLA Health Sciences schools. As the primary liaison between UCLA Health IT and the research institutes, cores, and research labs, he represents the research community.

Dr. Nicolalde has an extensive background in both academic medical research and commercial software and technology development. He has held academic positions at Dartmouth College and Oregon State University, where he conducted pioneering biomedical research and taught engineering courses. He earned his PhD in Biomedical and Health Services Research from Dartmouth College.
