Staying connected during a pandemic

Prior to March 2020, Zoom was most often used when meeting spaces were not available, to connect with staff in other locations, or simply when in-person meetings were inconvenient. Though the UCLA Health instance of Zoom had been available to all Mednet users since 2018 to augment collaboration and interactions, it wasn’t until this year that Zoom became an absolute and vital necessity.

Internet Explorer and UCLA Health IT site

Our web team is aware that some features on our UCLA Health IT site such as menus do not display properly on Internet Explorer (IE) 11. Our IT site runs the Drupal open-source software, and there are some known issues when rendering Drupal sites on IE11 and older versions.

We recommend using Chrome for the best user experience; however, we are aware that some UCLA Health IT-supported machines default to IE. In these cases, we recommend viewing our site on a different browser, whenever possible.

UCLA Health Zoom and Microsoft Teams Updates- July 2020

UCLA Health Zoom Black-out screen issue

Our teams have received a number of reports of losing the ability to present during a Zoom meeting. When this issue occurs, the presentation screen remains undisturbed to the presenter, however, it will display a blackout screen to the other meeting participants.

Our teams have escalated this issue to Zoom and we are actively working on with Zoom engineers to identify the root cause and a solution. At this time, a permanent resolution is not yet available.
